Davos: Trump, ( Trump) present in Davos for the World Economic Forum, said, “I have great respect for Indian Prime Minister Modi… Prime Minister Modi is a wonderful man and my friend. We are going to have a great deal with India.” Regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, Trump said he would meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Switzerland and that he believes Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin are now at a point where they can reach an agreement to end the war.
What he said about the Russia-Ukraine war
Referring to the Russian and Ukrainian leaders, Trump said, “I think they’re at a point now where they can come together and make a deal. And if they don’t, they’re fools.” He said he had been speaking with Putin, who he claimed wanted to make a deal to end the Ukraine war, and he also said he believes the Ukrainian leader is also ready to reach an agreement.
Both leaders had previously backed away from a deal, but now a deal is quite possible, Trump said. The comments come as Ukraine will mark the fourth anniversary of Russia’s invasion on February 24, 2022.
During his address in Davos, Trump reiterated his claim of mediating “eight wars,” including between India and Pakistan, a claim that Delhi has rejected on several occasions. On Wednesday, Trump said Washington was close to reaching a ceasefire agreement. He said, “I think I can say we’re pretty close. We have to stop this… I believe they’re at a point now where they can come together and make a deal. And if they don’t, they’re fools.”
