Modi government will also withdraw Article 370: Mehbooba

Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is very happy with the withdrawal of agricultural laws and has welcomed this decision of PM Modi. Mehbooba is also hopeful that the Modi government can restore Article 370 and statehood in Jammu and Kashmir with the government’s decision to reverse the demand of farmers after facing protests for a year. PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Friday said the Centre’s decision to withdraw the central agricultural laws is welcome. He also expressed hope that the central government would rectify the “illegal decisions” taken in Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019.

Mehbooba wrote on Twitter, “The decision to roll back agricultural laws and amnesty is a welcome move, even if it stems from electoral compulsions and the fear of losing elections. The irony is that while the BJP needs to appease people in the rest of India for votes, punishing and humiliating Kashmiris satisfies their core votebank.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief alleged that on August 5, 2019, the decision to abrogate the provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution and bifurcate the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into union territories was only by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). To please his voters. Mehbooba wrote, “To break and powerless Jammu and Kashmir, he took the insult of the Indian Constitution to please his voter. I hope he will reform and reverse the illegal decisions taken in August 2019.
