Charkhari: Preparations for the grand celebration of Lord Krishna’s birth anniversary have begun in Charkhari, a town popularly known as “Mini Vrindavan” due to its large number of Krishna temples.
The town is home to around 108 temples dedicated to Lord Krishna, where decorations and special arrangements are underway for Janmashtami. Devotees are eagerly preparing for religious celebrations, devotional songs and beautifully designed tableaux depicting scenes associated with Lord Krishna.
The historic Guman Bihari Temple is being specially decorated for the occasion. An attractive tableau will be displayed on Janmashtami night, drawing devotees and visitors.
Preparations are also underway at several other temples, including Mohan Ram Temple in Sadar Bazaar, Gopal Ji Temple in Nawada, Dhanushdhari Temple, Vasudev Temple and Govardhan Temple.
Charkhari, often referred to as the “Kashmir of Bundelkhand,” is expected to witness a festive atmosphere during the celebrations. Religious and cultural programmes will also be organised, continuing the town’s traditional Janmashtami celebrations.
According to temple representatives, devotees are showing great enthusiasm for the festival. Local markets have also started witnessing increased activity, with people purchasing Lord Krishna’s costumes, decorative items, sweets, dry fruits and other festival essentials.
With temples illuminated and decorated, devotional songs and religious programmes planned across the town, Charkhari is set to transform into a vibrant centre of Krishna devotion this Janmashtami.
