Lahore: A senior leader of Pakistan’ ( India and Pakistan) s ruling party ‘Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’ (PML-N) claimed that the outline of the military operation against India was prepared under the supervision of party president Nawaz Sharif. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s elder brother Nawaz Sharif himself has been the Prime Minister thrice. He congratulated the civilian and military leadership of Pakistan after an agreement was reached on Saturday to stop all types of attacks between India and Pakistan.
Punjab province’s information minister made a big claim
Pakistan’s Punjab province’s information minister Azma Bukhari claimed, “The entire campaign against India was designed under the supervision of former prime minister and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif.” She said Nawaz Sharif is “not an A, B, C, D type leader but his work speaks for itself.” The minister claimed, “It was Nawaz Sharif who made Pakistan a nuclear power and now he has designed the entire campaign against India.” If Bukhari’s claim is true, it shows Nawaz Sharif’s influence on the country’s civilian and military leadership.
Nawaz attended a high-level meeting
Interestingly, Nawaz Sharif attended a high-level meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence on May 8 to assess India-Pakistan tensions. The meeting was called a day after India attacked 0 terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
Attended the meeting in this capacity
Nawaz Sharif does not hold any government portfolio, so he attended the meeting in the capacity of the head of the ruling party government. The news said that in the meeting, Nawaz Sharif advocated using all available diplomatic resources to restore peace with India. Nawaz was quoted as saying in the news, “I am not in favor of adopting an aggressive stance (against India).”
Nawaz was the Prime Minister of Pakistan during the Kargil war
After the Indian action, Pakistan tried to attack Indian military bases on 8, 9 and 10 May. Nawaz was advocating a diplomatic solution to reduce the growing tension with India. Nawaz said in a post on ‘X’ on Saturday, “Pakistan is a peace loving country and loves peace but it also knows how to defend itself.” He had said, “Thank Allah for making Pakistan proud. I congratulate Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Sindhu and the armed forces of Pakistan.” Nawaz Sharif was the Prime Minister of Pakistan when the Kargil war took place in the year 1999.
