New Delhi. Rekha Singh, wife of Naik Deepak Singh, who was martyred (martyr) in a clash with Chinese soldiers in Galvan Valley in June 2020, was inducted into the Indian Army on Saturday as a lieutenant. The officers provided this information. According to officials, Rekha Singh (29) has been posted in the forward front unit on the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh.

Lt Singh has completed his one-year training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai and has been posted with the Army Ordnance Corps. Officials said that Lieutenant Rekha Singh has been posted to a forward front unit in eastern Ladakh. Her husband Naik Deepak Singh was from the 16th Battalion of the Bihar Regiment and was posthumously awarded the Vir Chakra in 2021.

After Param Vir Chakra and Maha Vir Chakra, Vir Chakra is the country’s third highest award for gallantry in war.

Significantly, on June 15, 2020, 20 soldiers of the Indian Army were martyred in a clash with Chinese soldiers in the Galvan Valley of eastern Ladakh. After this incident, the military deadlock between the two countries has increased.

According to Deepak Singh’s Vir Chakra Citation, he played a vital role in treating and saving the lives of more than 30 Indian soldiers.

According to the citation, Naik Deepak Singh displayed exemplary courage and patriotism in the face of adversity and made the supreme sacrifice for the nation.

“Women Cadet Rekha Singh, wife of Martyr Naik (Nursing Assistant) Deepak Singh, has joined the Indian Army after completing her training from OTA,” the army tweeted.
