US President Donald Trump ( Trump) addressed the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) today. During his address, he stated that the US has become more powerful than ever before. He also issued a direct threat to destroy Iran. It is worth noting that the General Debate formally began with a speech by UN Secretary-General António Guterres. Following this, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva delivered his address.
Divides in our world are widening – UN Secretary-General
Earlier, UN Secretary-General António Guterres delivered his farewell address. This was his final UN General Assembly address as Secretary-General. At the beginning of his speech, Guterres remarked, “Divisions in our world are widening.” The UN chief stated that superpowers must realize their “power is not quite so ‘super'” and that peace cannot be established through military might alone.

Earlier, upon arriving at the UN headquarters in New York for the 81st UN General Assembly, Trump spoke to reporters. He said, “It is an honor for me to be at the United Nations. We are moving forward, and our country is doing very well.” Regarding the message for Russian President Putin, he said, “End the war.”
‘US has diminished Iran’s power’
In his speech, Trump stated that the US has curtailed Iran’s power. Iran is no longer as powerful as it once was. Iran used to be the bully of the Middle East, but that is no longer the case. Meanwhile, regarding Cuba, he predicted that the Cuban government would soon fall; following this remark, the Cuban delegation was seen walking out of the UN General Assembly hall.
