Heat wave will prevail in June
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) ( IMD ) on Monday forecast that heat wave will prevail in most states of the country in June. The IMD said, “Monthly maximum temperatures are likely to remain above normal in most parts of the country in June except many parts of southern peninsular India.” The IMD forecast said that during the next month, most parts of northwest India and adjoining areas of central India are likely to remain above normal. The administration has set up tents near the railway crossing in Bikaner to save people from the scorching heat. Similarly, a tent has been set up near the red light at an intersection in Lucknow.
These areas will get relief
India Meteorological Department (IMD) chief Mrityunjay Mahapatra said that due to western disturbance and moisture coming from the Arabian Sea, some relief from the scorching heat is expected after three days. He said that due to western disturbance and moisture coming from the Arabian Sea, there is a possibility of thunderstorms in the northwest and central parts of the country and rain in the western Himalayan region, which will bring relief to the people. There may be relief from the heat.
Water and power crisis due to heat
According to the Central Water Commission, the water storage in India’s 150 major reservoirs remained only 24 percent of their total storage last week, increasing water shortages in many states and significantly affecting hydropower generation. The scorching heat has already pushed India’s power demand to 239.96 gigawatts, the highest so far this season. Air conditioners and coolers are running at full capacity in homes and offices. Experts predict that there is no hope of any relief in the coming days and the demand for electricity may increase even more.
