Kidambi Srikanth created history


New Delhi: India’s star badminton player Kidambi Srikanth on Saturday made it to the final of the BWF World Championship 2021. He has made it to the final of the ongoing championship in Spain by defeating Lakshya Sen. Kidambi Srikanth is the first Indian male player to reach the final.

Earlier, India’s Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu had managed to reach the finals of the World Championship. In the first semi-final match played on Saturday, Srikanth defeated compatriot Lakshya Sen 17-21, 21-14, 21-17 to enter the final. The match between the two lasted for about 69 minutes.

Finalist Kidambi Srikanth will now face the winner of the second semi-final between Denmark’s Anders Antonsen and Singapore’s Kean Yev Loh. Kidambi Srikanth and Lakshya Sen sealed two medals for the country by entering the semi-finals on Friday. After the defeat, Sen now has to be content with the bronze medal.
