This was John’s first income

John Abraham started his career as a supermodel. His first salary was Rs 6500. When he was asked how he spends his salary, John said, ‘My expenses were very low. My lunch used to be Rs 6 and I used to eat 2 rotis and dal fry. This was in 1999. I did not eat dinner because I had to work late in the office. My expenses included petrol for my bike, I did not have a mobile, I had a train pass and some food, that’s all.’

Long break after back to back films

After a successful career in modeling, John Abraham started his acting career with the film ‘Jism’, which was considered a successful film and even today people like to watch it. However, the actor became a hit with his film ‘Dhoom’ and then with many comedy films like ‘Garam Masala’, ‘Taxi No. 9211’ and ‘Dostana’. John Abraham established himself as an action hero with films like ‘Race 2’, ‘Shootout at Wadala’, ‘Force’, ‘Force 2’ and ‘Madras Cafe’. John had no new work after the film ‘Welcome Back’. He revealed in an interview with Ranveer Allahbadia how Bollywood had declared his career over after this film.

This film brought him success again

John says, ‘Before Parmanu, when I had not worked for four years, a lot of new people had come to the industry. I was told that my career is over, I am out. When Parmanu released, I did not even understand whether I was in or out. It worked. Just keep working. Even when I was ‘free’, I did not stop working. Just work hard, people will see your sincerity.’ He made his comeback with two back-to-back hits ‘Pramanu’ and ‘Satyameva Jayate’ and later impressed everyone as the villain in Pathan. The film starring Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan turned out to be an all-time blockbuster and grossed Rs 1050 crore at the box office worldwide. He is currently seen in ‘Veda’ opposite Sharvari.
