Gaza: Despite all the protests and criticism, Israeli (Israel) leader Netanyahu is in no mood to spare Palestine. Some Gaza officials said on Monday that Israeli jets have attacked two areas in eastern Rafah. This attack took place when the Israeli army had asked thousands of Palestinians to vacate the southern Gaza city of Rafah. This indicated that a ground attack could take place there soon.
Ceasefire efforts fail
In fact, the Israeli military’s announcement has further complicated the final efforts for a ceasefire by international mediators, including the CIA director. On the other hand the attack has also started. However, mediator Qatar has warned that the attack on Rafah could derail the talks. Earlier, Israel has described Rafah as the last important stronghold of Hamas even after seven months of war. Its leaders have repeatedly said they need a ground offensive to defeat the Islamic terrorist group.
action with great force
At the same time, army spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani had said that about 100,000 people were being ordered to move to nearby Muwasi after being declared a humanitarian zone by Israel. He said Israel was preparing an operation and would not say whether it was the beginning of a wider attack on the city. On the other hand, the Israeli Army also said on Monday that it will take action against the terrorists with great force.
Concern over Israel’s plan
Meanwhile, Israel’s plan to attack Rafah has increased the world’s concern because it could cause harm to more than one million Palestinian citizens taking refuge there. According to a statement from the Israeli Defense Forces, people have been asked to move to Muwasi, an Israeli-declared humanitarian zone near the coast. The army said it has expanded assistance to the area, including hospitals, tents, food and water. This announcement has been made amidst the ceasefire talks which are going through a delicate phase.
There was already apprehension that Israel would soon launch a ground attack. Israel has expressed its resolve to eliminate the remaining Hamas terrorists. It has been clearly said that now there will be no talks but there will be war. On Sunday, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant had claimed that Hamas is not serious about any agreement. He warned of a powerful operation in Rafah in the near future. His comments came after Hamas attacked Israel’s main crossing point on Sunday, killing three soldiers.
