Iran’s Military Issues Warning to the US  (Warning ) 

Cairo: Ali Abdollahi, Commander of Iran’s Joint Military Command, has issued a stern warning    (Warning )   to the United States. He stated that if the US does not immediately lift the blockade imposed on Iranian ports, Iran will completely halt all export and import activities across the Persian Gulf, the Sea of ​​Oman, and the Red Sea. This report was carried by Iran’s state-run media.

‘The Blockade Constitutes a Ceasefire Violation’
Commander Abdollahi asserted that Iran remains fully resolute in defending its national sovereignty and interests. He characterized the US blockade as a violation of the ceasefire agreement. He emphasized that Iran’s formidable armed forces would not allow any form of export or import activity to continue within the region. This warning comes at a time when discussions regarding a ceasefire between the US and Iran are currently underway. The Commander stated that this action by the US represents a step toward undermining the peace agreement—a move that Iran will not tolerate.

Iran Had Previously Blocked the Strait of Hormuz
When Israel and the US initiated attacks against Iran, Tehran effectively blocked the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz is a critically important maritime route globally. By blocking it, Iran demonstrated its military might. On Monday, the US commenced a blockade around Iranian ports. The US Navy is now interdicting vessels traveling to and from Iran. The US maintains that this blockade applies solely to Iranian vessels and will not impact the movement of ships belonging to other nations within the Persian Gulf.

Economies of Several Nations Set to Be Affected
The US has asserted that the blockade is now fully in effect. Under this measure, the export of Iranian oil and other commodities is being prohibited. The objective behind this move is to intensify economic pressure on Iran. The warning issued by the Iranian military has become a cause for concern. If Iran were to block the Persian Gulf, the Sea of ​​Oman, and the Red Sea, global oil supplies could be disrupted. This could have an adverse impact on the economies of numerous nations.

Approximately 20 percent of the world’s oil originates from the Persian Gulf. The Red Sea, too, serves as a vital trade route connecting Europe and Asia. Iran maintains that these waterways must be accessible to all—or to no one at all. It asserts that if the United States continues to blockade Iranian ports, Iran will, in turn, disrupt the entire region.
