Tehran: The deal currently being negotiated between the United States and Iran has hit another snag. Iran has decided to suspend talks ( Talks) with the US. Citing violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon, Iran has taken the decision to halt negotiations with the United States. It is worth noting that over the past few days, Israel has intensified its attacks against Lebanon.
What Did the Iranian Foreign Minister Say?
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had also issued a statement regarding the ceasefire with the US. He stated: “Important Notice—The ceasefire between Iran and the United States is explicitly a comprehensive ceasefire covering all fronts, including Lebanon. A violation of this ceasefire on any single front shall be deemed a violation across all fronts. Both the United States and Israel will be held responsible for the consequences of any violation of the ceasefire.”
“Staying Silent Would Be Just Fine”—Trump
US President Donald Trump has also issued a statement in response to reports regarding the suspension of talks with Iran. Trump stated that he has not received any such information, but if it is indeed true, then “that’s fine.” Trump remarked: “I think we are talking too much. Staying silent would be just fine. Staying silent does not mean that we will start dropping bombs; we will continue the blockade. The blockade is as strong as iron.” When asked if he could wait for Iran to calm down, he replied, “I think I can wait as long as they want. They are suffering heavy losses.”
Missile and Drone Attacks Continue in the Middle East
For some time now, missiles and drones have once again become active in the Middle East. While the US is conducting attacks on Iranian military bases, Iran, in turn, is targeting American bases. The United States has targeted radar and drone control sites on Iran’s Goruk and Qeshm islands in the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. Central Command has claimed to have destroyed elements of Iran’s air defense system, a ground control station, and two drones. Meanwhile, Iran has also launched a retaliatory strike. The IRGC claimed to have targeted the specific U.S. airbase that was utilized to launch the attack against it. The Iranian military had also claimed yesterday to have shot down a U.S. MQ-1 drone. Although Iran did not specify which U.S. base it had targeted, it has released video footage of the missile attack; furthermore, sirens regarding an Iranian attack are reportedly sounding in Kuwait.
