India’s blunt message to China ( India’)   

New Delhi: The Indian       ( India’)     Foreign Ministry has strongly objected to the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s statement that India is illegally occupying Arunachal Pradesh. China calls it Southern Tibet, Jangnan, and has never recognized Arunachal Pradesh. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral and inseparable part of India, and this reality will not change.

What is the matter?
China arbitrarily detained an Indian citizen from Arunachal Pradesh at Shanghai International Airport. The woman possessed a valid passport and was transiting through Shanghai for her onward journey to Japan. In the context of India’s demarche (formal diplomatic protest) against China’s actions and New Delhi’s clear assertion that Arunachal Pradesh is part of India, the Chinese Foreign Ministry reiterated China’s claims to Arunachal Pradesh.

China declares Arunachal Pradesh its territory
The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated, “Jangnan (Arunachal) is part of China. China has never recognized the so-called Arunachal Pradesh illegally established by India.” India lodged a strong protest with China in both Beijing and Delhi on the same day of the incident. India clearly stated to the Chinese side that Arunachal Pradesh is “without any doubt” Indian territory and that its residents have every right to hold and travel with Indian passports. The Indian Consulate in Shanghai also addressed the matter locally and provided full assistance to the affected traveler.

China has not yet issued an explanation
When asked about China’s claim on Tuesday, Randhir Jaiswal stated that Arunachal is an integral part of India. No amount of denial from China will change this reality. Jaiswal said that the issue of the detention of the Indian citizen from Arunachal Pradesh was strongly raised with the Chinese side. Chinese authorities have yet to explain their actions. This violates several rules governing international air travel. These rules allow citizens of all countries 24 hours of visa-free transit.
