Indian team’s announcement for South Africa tour today

New Delhi. The Indian team for the Test series against South Africa will be announced today i.e. on Wednesday. The Indian cricket team will play the first test match of the series on South African soil from 26 December i.e. Boxing Day. It is believed that the Indian team for the ODI series to be held on this tour will be announced later as the series is to start from January 19.

Cricket South Africa has announced a 21-man Test team on Tuesday itself. Due to the bio bubble, such a large number of players have been included in the team from the board. This series is part of the ICC World Test Championship. The matches of the series will be played at Centurion, Wanderers and Newlands. It is worth noting that Team India has never been able to win a Test series in South Africa. In such a situation, there will be a big responsibility on the shoulders of Virat Kohli.

Recently, under the leadership of Virat, India recently defeated New Zealand in the 2-match Test series. However, Virat was associated with the team in the second and final Test match of the series, in which India registered the biggest win in terms of run margin. India defeated New Zealand by 372 runs in the second test match played at the Wankhede Stadium. With this, the Test series also won 1-0.

When the selectors announce the Indian team for the South Africa tour, it will also be decided whether Ajinkya Rahane will continue in the team. Although his place seems secure, it remains to be seen whether he will continue as the vice-captain of the Test team. After 12 consecutive failures, Rahane is finding it a little difficult to remain the vice-captain. This is the reason why he was left out citing fitness in the Mumbai Test against New Zealand.
