New Delhi. India gave its best performance so far in the Asian Games. Indian athletes won a total of 12 medals ( medals ) including 6 gold on the 14th day i.e. Saturday. With 28 gold, 38 silver and 41 bronze, India finished its campaign at fourth position in the medal tally. On the last day, India’s men’s cricket team won the gold medal, while in Kabaddi, the Indian men’s and women’s teams became champions. India got gold in the men’s doubles event of badminton, while Indian archers targeted gold in the men’s and women’s individual event of archery.
In this competition, India won the maximum medals in athletics. Olympic and world champion Neeraj Chopra defended his title in javelin throw. He captured gold with a throw of 88.88m. Indian athletes gave a stellar performance in athletics this time. This time India won maximum 29 medals in athletics.
Indian shooters’ blast
Indian shooters also won a lot of applause for their excellent performance in China. This time the shooters won 22 medals whereas their best performance in 2006 was 14 medals. Then Indian shooters had won 14 medals in Doha, which was their best performance till date. Of these, 12 medals came in the team event. Indian men’s and women’s team won gold, while in Kabaddi also India won gold in men’s and women’s category.
Golden clean sweep in archery
India made a clean sweep in compound archery with 5 gold. World number 3 Indian shuttlers Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty created history by winning gold in men’s doubles. This is the first Indian pair to win gold in men’s doubles. India got 3 medals in badminton, which is its second best performance. India won 6 medals in wrestling.
Got Olympic ticket
Apart from this, some athletes also qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Indian men’s hockey team won gold while boxers Nikhat Zareen, Praveen, Preeti and Lovlina won bronze. All of them have booked Paris Olympic tickets.
