Haldwani: More than 50 policemen were injured in stone pelting  (stone pelting) in Banbhulpura, Haldwani on Thursday. Everyone is undergoing treatment in the hospital. Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami called a high level meeting in this matter. He reviewed the situation with the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, other senior police and intelligence officials. He appealed to the people to maintain peace. DM has imposed curfew in Vanbhulpura and has given orders to shoot the rioters on sight.
There was a huge uproar during the demolition of illegal madrasa and namaz place in Malik’s garden near Banbhulpura police station. The Municipal Corporation team arrived today with a JCB. Meanwhile, the miscreants present there pelted stones at the administration, police and journalists, in which many policemen were injured.

The miscreants set fire to the vehicles of police, municipal corporation and journalists. A police vehicle was also set on fire near Banbhulpura police station. As the situation went out of control, the police had to fire several rounds. At present, top police and administration officials are standing at the spot. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a high level meeting with officials regarding the Haldwani incident.

The Municipal Corporation team has demolished the illegal Madrassa and Namaz place with JCB machine. A large team of Municipal Corporation including Municipal Commissioner Pankaj Upadhyay, City Magistrate Richa Singh, SDM Paritosh Verma were present on the spot. During the action, unruly elements living around Malik’s garden pelted stones at police personnel and journalists. Many policemen and journalists were injured due to this. After this the police used force against the unruly elements and released tear gas.
Municipal Commissioner Pankaj Upadhyay said that madrassa and namaz place are illegal. The Municipal Corporation had earlier taken possession of three acres of land near it. Then the illegal madrasa and namaz place were sealed. Now it has been demolished today. The unruly elements who were pelting stones during the action are being identified and arrested.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken the Haldwani incident seriously. The Chief Minister has instructed all concerned officials to ensure peace and law and order in the area. The Chief Minister reviewed the situation in a meeting with Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Director General of Police Abhinav Kumar and other senior officials at the Chief Minister’s residence on Thursday evening.

The Chief Minister appealed to the local people to maintain peace and directed to take strict action against the unruly elements. The Chief Minister said that peace and order should be ensured in the area. He gave clear instructions that no one should be allowed to play with law and order in the state. Administrative officers should continuously strive to maintain law and order in the area.

The District Magistrate told the Chief Minister over phone that curfew has been imposed in the disturbed area of Banbhulpura and to keep the situation normal, orders have been given to shoot the rioters at sight.
