Haryana:The Haryana Government has announced a major initiative for senior citizens under the Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana 2026. A special free train service will depart from Sirsa on May 15 for Shri Hazur Sahib Nanded in Maharashtra, offering elderly citizens an opportunity to undertake a spiritual journey without any financial burden.

According to government officials, citizens fulfilling the following conditions are eligible for the scheme:

  • Applicant must be 60 years of age or older
  • Annual family income should be below 180,000 rupees
  • Applicant must be a permanent resident of Haryana
  • Family Identity Card is mandatory

The government stated that the scheme aims to support economically weaker senior citizens who wish to visit important religious destinations.

Under the latest phase of the pilgrimage scheme, eligible citizens will travel free of cost from Sirsa to Shri Hazur Sahib Nanded, one of the most sacred Sikh pilgrimage sites in Maharashtra.

Officials said the special train service will include essential travel arrangements and assistance for elderly passengers to ensure a safe and comfortable journey.

How to Register Online for Haryana Teerth Yatra Scheme

Eligible citizens can apply online through the Saral Haryana portal. Registration can also be completed with the help of nearby Common Service Centers.

Applicants can submit forms from home using mobile phones or computers, making the process simple and accessible for senior citizens and their families.

  • Aadhaar Card or other valid photo identity proof
  • PAN Card or government-issued identity document
  • Family Identity Card
  • Health fitness certificate
  • Self-declaration stating the applicant has not used the scheme in the last three years
