Farmers are standing at Shambhu border and Khanauri border of Punjab-Haryana border.
On the fifth day of ‘Delhi Chalo’ march called by United Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, farmers remained standing at Shambhu border and Khanauri border of Punjab-Haryana border. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher on Saturday demanded from the Central Government to bring an ordinance to give legal guarantee to MSP. Pandher said that the Center has the right to take “political” decisions. He said, “If the central government wants, it can bring an ordinance overnight. If the government wants a solution to the farmers’ movement, then it should bring an ordinance that it will implement the law on MSP, then the talks can move forward.
Pandher told reporters at Shambhu border that as far as procedures are concerned, any ordinance is valid for six months. He said that as far as the demand is for “C2 plus 50 per cent” as per the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission, the government is giving the price as per the “A2 plus FL” formula and “an ordinance can be brought under the same formula.” Is.”
On the issue of farm loan waiver, Pandher said that the government is saying that the loan amount will have to be assessed. He said, “The government can collect data from banks in this regard. It’s a matter of willpower.
Pandher said, “They (Centre) are saying that this will have to be discussed with the states. You leave the states. You only talk about the Center and nationalized banks and decide on how to waive off the loans of farmers.
He said that other demands of the farmers are also important. Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal also said that the government should bring an ordinance to “give something to the people of the country”.
Dallewal, along with Pandher, is leading the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march of farmers. Dallewal said, “The government should bring the ordinance with the intention that it should come into force with immediate effect and within six months it can be converted into law and there is no problem in it.”
Asked about claims that huge funds would be required to provide minimum support price (MSP) on all 23 crops, Dallewal said a study has revealed that Rs 2.50 lakh crore is required for this. Dallewal claimed that another study said only Rs 36,000 crore was required.
He said, “If the government takes producers and consumers seriously and pays less attention to corporates, the problem will be solved.” Dallewala said that the agriculture sector is generating 50 percent employment. He said, “The agriculture sector has 20 per cent share in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and if the agriculture sector has 20 per cent share in the GDP then why is it difficult for the government to give Rs 2.50 lakh crore?”
He said that the government imports pulses from other countries and if the government guarantees MSP on crops like pulses, then farmers can produce them here.
Farmers from Punjab had started their march to Delhi on Tuesday, but security personnel stopped them at Shambhu and Khanauri border of Punjab’s border with Haryana. Since then the protesters have been standing at these two border points.
