New Delhi: Ashutosh Gangal, General Manager, Northern Railway today reviewed the work progress of Northern Railway with the Heads of Departments and Divisional Railway Managers of Northern Railway at Head Office, Baroda House, New Delhi. The meeting, inter alia, discussed expansion of platforms, raising of surface of platforms, provision of washable aprons, second entrance, foot-over-bridge, escalators, lifts, fans, drinking water, lighting, passenger announcement system, facilities for differently-abled persons. Topics like improvement of station building including toilets, main gate and providing passenger amenities at stations were discussed. He also reviewed the progress of mobility enhancement and other developmental infrastructure works and freight loading.
He informed that Northern Railway earned Rs 483 crore from the sale of scrap. He directed to speed up the campaigns to maintain better records of punctuality of trains and to check the progress of works related to increase in mobility. He also reviewed the work done on the zone to improve the maintenance standards of tracks, welds and removal of scrap lying near the tracks. He further informed that during the period from 05.01.2023 to 11.01.2023 Northern Railway operated 1261 crack trains.
Shri Gangal stressed on reducing human failures in rail operations and intensive monitoring of rail cracks and rail welds. He said that there should not be any mistake in these works. The General Manager reviewed the work of removal of vegetation growing on the sides of the railway tracks and pruning of trees. He also emphasized on increasing the speed limit of trains on the zone.
Speaking on Freight Business Development, the General Manager said that business development units should maintain close liaison with each other. He directed that BDU should maintain an atmosphere of trust, cooperation and confidence among the customers. He also instructed to take the concessions and measures being taken by the Railways to the customers. He also informed that the loading of food grains and other items has increased with each passing month.
