Resident doctors of central government-run RML Hospital, Safdarjung Hospital and Lady Hardinge Hospitals will boycott all routine and emergency services from Monday against the delay in NEET-PG 2021 counseling. According to the Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA), an organization of resident doctors, emergency services will remain closed in most major hospitals across the country on December 6. FORDA has taken this decision in collaboration with national and state RDAs.
In a letter to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, FORDA has said that there is a shortage of resident doctors in health institutions across the country and there are no admissions in the current academic year yet. It said, ‘Amidst the possibility of a large wave of Kovid-19 epidemic in future, its effect will be disastrous on the health sector, which will also affect the population of the country. It seems that no initiative or measure has been taken yet to expedite (NEET-PG) counselling, so after consultations with various RDA representatives of Delhi, we have decided to take our agitation forward and start the health institutions from Monday. I have decided to withdraw from all services (regular and emergency).
The RDA of Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital, in a communication to the hospital administration, said that the resident doctors, the first year junior residents of various hospitals across the country, have been protesting peacefully for almost a week now in view of the delay in NEET-PG counseling and admission. are. The RDA had suspended OPD services from November 27 and regular services from December 3. He said, ‘We are sorry to bring to your attention that we have not received any positive response or concrete action from the Union Health Ministry and the concerned authorities.’
RDAs of Safdarjung and Lady Hardinge hospitals have also written similar letters. The RDA of Safdarjung Hospital, in its letter to the medical superintendent, said that after a meeting with the Union Health Minister on November 27, ‘the verbal assurances given by him’ “Due to the irresponsibility and apathy of the government and the concerned authorities, unfortunately, we are left with no option but to boycott the emergency services from Monday,” the RDA said.
