New Delhi. India’s oldest player Dinesh Karthik suffered a back injury during the T20 World Cup match against South Africa on Sunday and it is doubtful to play in the match against Bangladesh in Adelaide. Karthik has not been able to do well with the batting in the tournament so far and he scored only six runs in 15 balls against South Africa too.
Karthik was seen moaning in pain after 15 overs of the South African innings. He grabbed his back and got down on his knees. The physio immediately reached him and after some time Karthik returned to the pavilion with him.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar later confirmed that Karthik suffered a back injury. “There is a matter related to the bench with him. Something can be said clearly about this only after getting the physio’s report. India has to play the next match against Bangladesh in Adelaide on November 2 and in such a situation, Karthik has very little time to get fit. In the last five overs in the match against South Africa, Rishabh Pant kept the wicket in place of Karthik.
