Did the pilot try to seize control of the aircraft?( pilot )

Tel Aviv: Panic ensued on Flydubai flight FZ1073, en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv, Israel, when the aircraft transmitted the ‘7500’ code via its international transponder. This code signals a hijacking or an act of unlawful interference. Following the incident, the Israeli Air Force scrambled fighter jets for security. Based on security assessments and passenger statements, officials are now treating the incident as a potential terror attack. An Omani pilot  ( pilot )   is reportedly being held responsible for the incident.

Approximately 180 passengers were on board.
Flydubai flight FZ1073 was traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv. There were around 180 passengers on board, with reports indicating that over 100 were Israeli citizens. During the flight, the ‘7500’ emergency code was suddenly activated. This code is typically used in situations involving a hijacking or unlawful interference with the aircraft. Israel immediately activated security protocols and deployed Air Force fighter jets.

Initially reported as a cockpit altercation.
In initial reports, Israeli officials and the media did not characterize the incident as an attempted hijacking. At the time, it was stated that a violent altercation or physical fight had broken out between pilots in the cockpit. This was cited as the reason for the activation of the emergency code and the subsequent diversion of the flight to another airport. However, facts revealed during the subsequent investigation have cast the incident in a much more serious light. Senior Israeli officials have stated that a major catastrophe was averted. Did the pilot attempt to seize the aircraft?
According to Israeli officials, there is growing suspicion that the aircraft’s co-pilot attempted to take control of the plane. There are also concerns that his motive might have been to crash the aircraft or carry out a major attack. However, officials have not yet clarified exactly what the accused intended to do. Investigative agencies are trying to determine whether he wanted to hijack the plane and fly it to Israel, crash it into the ground, or execute a large-scale incident similar to the 9/11 attacks.

Suspected pilot identified as an Omani national
According to preliminary investigations reported in the Israeli media, the pilot suspected of attempting to seize the aircraft is believed to be a citizen of Oman. However, the identity of the suspected pilot has not yet been officially confirmed. An Israeli official stated that authorities are working to identify the pilot who carried out the knife attack and are also investigating whether or not he was a citizen of a Middle Eastern country.

Other pilots among passengers stepped in
A second team of pilots, who were traveling on the flight as passengers, also helped bring the situation under control. Reports indicate that these pilots were on board in plainclothes. They assisted in subduing the suspected pilot and preventing the attempt to take control of the aircraft. This information has not yet been independently verified and is currently being treated as part of the investigation.

Officials state: ‘It was clearly an attempted hijacking’
An Israeli official remarked that while the suspect’s exact intentions remain to be determined, one thing is clear: he attempted to hijack the aircraft. Officials state that the investigation into the incident is ongoing, and they are gathering full details regarding the suspect’s motive, identity, and intended next move. Plane lands safely at airport; all passengers safe
Following the incident, the aircraft landed safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia. Flydubai has confirmed that all passengers and crew members on board are safe and accounted for. The Israeli passengers are currently stranded in Tabuk following the incident. Israel and Saudi Arabia do not have formal diplomatic relations; consequently, Israeli officials are coordinating efforts to bring the passengers back.

Preparations underway to bring Israeli passengers back
According to reports, Israel may dispatch a civilian or military aircraft to bring its citizens back from Tabuk. The primary challenge facing officials is ensuring the safe return of the passengers. An investigation into the incident is currently underway to determine exactly what occurred on board, the intentions of the pilot in question, and whether this was an attempt at a major terrorist attack. Officials have stated that preliminary findings suggest a major catastrophe was averted.
