The Delhi High Court has raised serious concerns over the upcoming film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh, after a petition alleged that the movie reveals sensitive information related to India’s intelligence operations and defense activities.
The court has asked the Central Government and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to examine the matter and respond to the allegations.

A bench led by Chief Justice D.K. Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia observed that films can strongly influence society and such concerns cannot be ignored. The court stated that the issues raised in the petition are “not baseless” and deserve proper consideration.
The High Court directed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and CBFC to treat the petition as an official representation and take an appropriate decision after reviewing the concerns.
Dhurandhar Movie Leak Allegations Explained
According to the petition, the film allegedly contains:
- Sensitive details related to military and intelligence operations
- Depictions of secret protocols and confidential procedures
- Information about covert agents and operational methods
- Scenes that could potentially affect national security
The petitioner, reportedly associated with the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), claimed that the movie may violate India’s Official Secrets Act by exposing strategic and classified information.
CBFC Guidelines Under Question
During the hearing, the Delhi High Court also questioned whether clear censorship guidelines exist for spy thrillers and defense-based films. The petition requested the government to create stricter rules for movies involving intelligence agencies, military operations, and national security themes.
Demand to Ban Dhurandhar Movie Release
The plea also sought cancellation of the film’s certification and requested a ban on its release in theatres and OTT platforms. The petition argued that certain scenes in the movie could endanger intelligence operatives and compromise security interests.

As of now, the Delhi High Court has not imposed any direct ban on the film. However, the court has instructed the Centre and CBFC to carefully review the complaint and take necessary action.
