New Delhi: New Delhi witnessed a major scare after (Delhi Ambulance Fire)a Safdarjung Hospital ambulance caught fire near the Dhaula Kuan-Moti Bagh flyover area on Thursday evening. The incident reportedly occurred after a suspected short circuit inside the ambulance, leading to an oxygen cylinder explosion.
According to initial information, the Category ambulance had returned after dropping a patient in Samalkha and was on its way back to the hospital in Delhi. Around 7:20 PM, when the vehicle reached near the Moti Bagh flyover close to Dhaula Kuan, a short circuit allegedly triggered a fire near the conductor’s seat.
Soon after the fire broke out, an oxygen cylinder kept inside the ambulance exploded, causing panic in the area. The impact of the blast also spread flames to a nearby motorcycle parked close to the ambulance, completely damaging the bike.
Authorities said the ambulance staff managed to move to safety in time, preventing any major casualties. Fire and police teams rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.
Officials are investigating the exact cause of the fire and explosion. Further details regarding damage and safety measures are awaited.
