Daughter-in-law in the field in front of father-in-law?

Panaji: One of the BJP’s bets regarding the Goa Legislative Assembly elections has blown the senses of the Congress. The BJP has fielded Pratap Singh Rane’s daughter-in-law Deviya Rane from Goa’s Porim seat. With the announcement of the daughter-in-law’s name, the father-in-law has decided to withdraw his claim. That is, he will not contest elections from this seat. It is worth noting that 87-year-old Rane has been an MLA from Porim for 11 times and has not lost a single election.

Congress is upset with the decision of its strong candidate to leave the field like this. This is a big setback for him, because his victory in Porim seat was considered sure. Deviya’s husband and Pratap Singh’s son Vishwajit Rane is the Health Minister in the BJP government. He is contesting from Valpoi. This time the BJP has fielded the wife along with the husband in the electoral fray. Deviya Rane is contesting her first election.

After the daughter-in-law entered the electoral fray, Pratap Singh Rane has decided not to contest the elections. However, 87-year-old Rane says that he has taken this decision due to his growing age, there is no pressure from the family. Let us tell you that Rane has become an MLA from this seat 11 times and has never lost. This is the reason why Congress is upset with its senior leader raising his hands like this.
This time five couples are trying their luck in the Goa assembly elections. If they all win, one-fourth of Goa’s 40-member assembly will be husband and wife. Talking about the BJP, the couples that it has fielded, while it has also given ticket to a leader whose wife will try his luck as an independent candidate. On the other hand, Congress and TMC have also given ticket to a couple each.

Deputy CM’s wife will fight as an independent
Along with Deputy CM Chandrakant Kavlekar, his wife Savitri Kavlekar is also in the fray. Chandrakant is the BJP candidate from her traditional Quepem seat, while Savitri will contest as an independent candidate from Sanguem if she does not get a ticket from the party. Michael Lobo and his wife Delia are contesting on Congress ticket. Let us tell you that former minister Michael had joined the Congress after his wife did not get a ticket from the BJP.
