Cyclone Mandaus headed towards Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puduche

New Delhi: Cyclone Mandaus, which originated from the Bay of Bengal, is moving towards Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry. Heavy rain, lightning and strong wind are expected in these states due to the storm. In view of the threat perception, NDRF, Navy and other organizations have been asked to be prepared.

Giving information about the preparedness for Cyclone Mandaus, NDRF Arakkonam, 4th Battalion Sub-Inspector and Commander Sandeep Kumar said that our team is ready with all kinds of equipment. Our team members are trained in their fields. Whenever we get a call for help, we will immediately reach the spot.

Orange alert issued in 12 districts of Tamil Nadu
On December 8 and 9, heavy rains and strong winds are expected in all the coastal areas including Chennai in Tamil Nadu. The Meteorological Department has issued Red Alert in 13 districts for December 8 and Orange Alert in 12 districts for December 9 in Tamil Nadu. After reviewing the preparations, the Cabinet Secretary of the National Crisis Management Committee, Rajiv Gauba said that it is our endeavor to minimize the loss of life and property due to the cyclone. The name of Mandaus storm has been given by the United Arab Emirates. In Hindi it means ‘treasure’.
