The Ministry of Power gave this information on Saturday. The Ministry is also ensuring necessary action with Coal India Limited and Railways to improve the supply of coal to power plants.
The Ministry of Power further said, “Ministry of Coal and Coal India Limited have assured that they are doing their best to increase the limit of sending coal to the power sector by 1.6 MT per day in the next 3 days and increase it to 1.7 MT per day. is being attempted. This is likely to help build coal reserves in power plants in the near future.”
The ministry said that along with the increase in the demand for electricity, the rain in the coal mines has created a crisis of coal. He said, “Unprecedented increase in power demand due to the revival of economy, heavy rains in coal mine areas in September, affecting coal production and dependence on domestic coal due to increase in the prices of imported coal coal stocks in power plants. reasons for the decrease.
Significantly, earlier last week, Power Minister RK Singh had acknowledged the shortage of coal in thermal power plants in the country and termed it as “beyond normalcy”. However, later he also said that in the second fortnight of October, the demand for electricity will subside and the supply of coal to the plants will also improve.
