Cold wave may return in many areas of Delhi

New Delhi. The Meteorological Department has predicted the return of cold wave at many places in Delhi-NCR from Monday to Wednesday. The minimum temperature is expected to be around 3 degree Celsius. According to data from the Indian Meteorological Department, Delhi witnessed severe cold wave from January 5 to January 9, which is the second longest period in the month in a decade. More than 50 hours of dense fog have been recorded so far this month, which is the highest since 2019.

IMD has predicted that dense to very dense fog is likely to occur in some parts during night and morning hours over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh during next 5 days. The weather bureau said that by January 17-18, the minimum temperature is likely to fall further by about 2 degrees Celsius in many parts of northwest and central India and many parts of Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana are likely to experience severe cold wave from cold wave. There is a possibility of becoming a situation.

The Meteorological Department has advised people to wear loose-fitting, warm woolen clothes and cover their head, neck, hands and toes. An IMD official said that large parts of north and northwest India recorded below normal maximum and minimum temperatures for most of the days this month before a western disturbance brought relief.

IMD said that under the influence of Western Disturbance, there will be a gradual increase in minimum temperature by 3 to 5 degree Celsius from January 18 to January 20. In the plains, a cold wave is declared if the minimum temperature drops to 4°C or when it falls below 10°C and 4.5° below normal. A severe cold wave occurs when the minimum temperature falls by 2°C or the departure from the normal range is more than 6.4°C.
