Cold wave alert in these states

new Delhi. The Indian Meteorological Department has released the latest weather forecast, in which the cold wave is expected to continue for the time being. There will be a shadow of dense fog in many states, while cold wave will continue in some areas. Meteorologists have also issued an alert in view of the severe weather. Due to the cold winds blowing in the plains adjacent to the Ganga, the chances of getting rid of the harsh winter are very less. Predictions have been made for states like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Assam, Tripura. Along with this, light rain is also likely at isolated places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry.

According to the latest update released by the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of dense to very dense fog in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for the next 5 days. There is a forecast of fog in Uttarakhand for the next 48 hours. Himachal Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam and Tripura will also be covered with fog for the next 2-3 days. Its effect can also be seen in Odisha for the next 24 hours. Dense fog has thrown normal life out of gear in northern and eastern India. Especially it has had a huge impact on the transport system. Dozens of trains are running late, while traveling by road has also become difficult.

IMD has expressed the possibility of severe cold wave from 3 to 6 January 2023 in some parts of northern Rajasthan. Apart from this, there is a forecast of cold wave in Punjab on 3 and 4 January. In view of the harsh winter, the winter holidays have been extended in schools of many states, so that the children stay at home in the severe cold. In view of the cold wave, an order has been issued to keep all schools up to class 12th in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow closed till January 7. In states like Bihar, Punjab, Delhi, it has already been announced to close the school.

Chances of rain in these states
The Meteorological Department has also expressed the possibility of rain in some states/union territories. According to the latest weather update, light rain may occur at isolated places over Andaman and Nicobad, Arunachal Pradesh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim and Puducherry. At present, there is no possibility of rain in the plains and mountainous areas of northern India.
