CM Mamata writes letter to CEC (Mamata ) 

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata   (Mamata )   Banerjee has written to the Election Commission requesting a temporary halt to the SIR process. In the letter, she wrote, “I request you to please intervene decisively to stop this ongoing process, cease coercive action, provide appropriate training and support, and thoroughly re-evaluate current procedures and timelines. If this path is not corrected immediately, the consequences for the system, officials, and citizens will be irreversible.

This intervention is not only necessary but also imperative to protect the integrity of the electoral process and our democratic structure. This is a moment that demands responsibility, humanity, and decisive corrective action. I trust you will act accordingly without further delay.”

BJP taunts, find out what they said

State Minister and former BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar said, “Mamata Banerjee is trying to get SIR stopped by any means necessary. SIR is being implemented in 12 other states. Bihar has already held elections after SIR, and no deaths have been reported. I want to ask her, why is the BLO under pressure only in Bengal?”

Shubhendu Adhikari said, “Who is Mamata Banerjee to stop SIR? This is a direct attack on a constitutional institution. SIR is not a new process, but is being conducted for the 9th time in the country. From day one, she has been intimidating people, personally attacking the Chief Electoral Officer, and abusing him. Funds for the allocation of 1,000 data entry operators have been withheld, and the remuneration approved by the Election Commission has been withheld… No SIR, and elections will not be held.”

Adhikari said, “If the final voter list is not ready by February 7th, there will be no elections in April, and the Constitution stipulates what will happen after that. Mamata Banerjee is creating a ruckus out of fear of losing power because dead, fake, and illegal voters are being removed… How will she win when over 10 million voters, who are either dead, fake, or illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators, will be removed?” There are only 22 seats between the TMC and the BJP. There is a difference of one lakh votes…”
