Chamoli: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami arrived on Saturday to visit Joshimath, a sinking town in Chamoli district of the state. Where the CM became emotional during the meeting with the affected families. CM Dhami met people of all ages from elders to children and got to know their problems. He said, “Our effort is to save everyone safely. Preparations are being made for necessary arrangements.Our first task is to take people to safe areas.” CM Dhami also said, “We are also considering whether people need to migrate and rehabilitate from here. We are also looking for a location for this. It is winter season now. Right now those issues are being looked into which need to be addressed.”

The Chief Minister said that premier institutes like IIT Roorkee and other institutes are in talks with ISRO to find out the reasons for this. “Geologists are working. Apart from the Guwahati Institute, IIT Roorkee is also in talks with ISRO. Everyone is trying to find out the reason.” Huge cracks have been seen in houses, roads and fields in Joshimath town And many houses have collapsed till now. Due to landslides in Joshimath, cracks have been found at many places on the Joshimath-Malari border road connecting the India-China border. A large part of Badrinath National Highway is also in the grip of landslide.

For this reason, under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the operation of Hotel View and Malari Inn has been banned till further orders. Nine families were displaced on Thursday, including four families from Joshimath Municipal Corporation, one Gurudwara Joshimath, one tourist hostel Manohar Bagh and others. The local people of Joshimath blocked the Badrinath highway on Thursday morning to protest against the government and the administration taking the matter of land subsidence seriously.
