Uttarkashi: Cloudburst ( Cloud burst ) in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand caused sudden floods and landslides in Naugaon area. The debris caused panic in Naugaon market and people started running here and there to save their lives. According to the information, a house was buried under the debris and muddy water entered more than half a dozen houses. After the incident, the Delhi-Yamunotri highway was closed, causing traffic jam in this area of Uttarakhand.
CM took information about the situation
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said in a post on Facebook that on receiving the news of damage due to heavy rains in Naugaon area of Uttrakhand district, I immediately spoke to the District Magistrate and directed him to conduct rescue and relief operations on a war footing. Dhami said that he has given clear instructions to immediately take the affected people to safe places and provide them all possible help.
Relief and rescue operations continue
District Magistrate (DM) Prashant Arya said that in the evening, a cloud burst in the Sewri Fall Patti of Yamuna Valley and the debris started flowing down due to the surge in the water stream, causing damage in the lower areas. The district administration, state and National Disaster Relief Force have started rescue operations in the affected area. Arya said that the affected people are being taken to safe places. He said that so far there is no information about loss of life and property.
Many vehicles washed away
The DM said that when the cloud burst incident occurred, many people had already left their homes and gone to a safe place due to the possibility of heavy rain. A mixer machine and some two-wheelers were swept away due to the surge in the Devalsari water stream. A car also got buried in the debris. There was chaos in Naugaon market due to the debris coming with water and people started running to save their lives. This led to the closure of the Delhi-Yamunotri highway and traffic jam. The State Disaster Response Force team led by Barkot Inspector Rajesh Joshi immediately reached the spot and started rescue and relief operations. They evacuated the locals to safer places.
