Women’s Premier League: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have strengthened their hold on the top of the points table by registering their second consecutive win in the Women’s Premier League 2025. RCB defeated Delhi Capitals by eight wickets thanks to a century partnership between captain Smriti Mandhana (Smriti Mandhana ) and Danny Wyatt Hodge. For RCB, fast bowler Renuka Singh and leg-spinner Georgia Wareham took three wickets each while captain Smriti Mandhana played a brilliant innings of 81 runs in batting. At the same time, Danny Wyatt Hodge scored 42 runs.
Chasing Delhi’s target of 142 runs, RCB registered an easy win by scoring 146 runs for two wickets in 16.2 overs, thanks to captain Mandhana’s innings of 81 runs in 47 balls with 10 fours and three sixes and her 107-run partnership for the first wicket with Danny Wyatt Hodge (42 runs, 33 balls, seven fours). Earlier, Delhi’s team collapsed for 141 runs in 19.3 overs in front of the excellent bowling of Renuka (three wickets for 23 runs), Georgia (three wickets for 25 runs), Kim Garth (two wickets for 19 runs) and Ekta Bisht (two wickets for 35 runs). Jemima Rodrigues scored the highest 34 runs for Delhi Capitals, while apart from her only Sarah Bryce (23) could touch the 20-run mark. Smriti and Danny’s pair gave a great start to RCB, who came out to chase the target. Smriti hit two fours in the very first over of Marijen Kapp and then hit two fours on Meenu Mani. Denny also hit four fours in two overs of Shikha Pandey. Smriti hit the first six of the innings on Arundhati Randi, due to which the team added 57 runs without losing a wicket in the power play. Smriti and Denny played shots all around the field and hit many attractive boundaries. Smriti completed her fastest WPL half-century in just 27 balls with two consecutive fours and a run on Jess Jonassen.
Denny, however, was lucky on the score of 34 runs when Jemima dropped her easy catch on Jonassen’s ball. Smriti hit a six on Marijen, due to which the team completed a century of runs in the 10th over. Arundhati gave the first blow to RCB by getting Denny caught by Jemima in the next over. Smriti also hit a six on Jonassen but returned to the pavilion on Shikha’s ball. At this stage, RCB needed nine runs to win and Richa Ghosh (11 not out) hit a six off Arundhati to take the team over the line.
