Meghalaya: Panic has gripped the region following the violence related to the murder of Usman Hadi, the coordinator of the Inqilab Manch in Bangladesh. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh police claim that Hadi’s killers have entered India. However, security agencies in Meghalaya (Meghalaya ) rejected this claim by the Bangladesh police on Sunday.
It is noteworthy that Hadi was shot in the head during an election campaign in Dhaka on December 12. He was later airlifted to Singapore for better treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries on December 18.
What did the BSF say?
BSF Chief Inspector General OP Upadhyay in Meghalaya said, “These claims are baseless and misleading. No evidence or information has been found that any person has crossed the international border into Meghalaya from the Haluaghat sector. The BSF has neither witnessed any such incident nor received any such report.”
A senior police officer in Meghalaya also commented on the Bangladeshi claims. He said, “No input or intelligence has been received that the suspects were present in the Garo Hills area.” He also added that local police units have not observed any such activity and coordination with central agencies is ongoing.
What did the Bangladesh Police claim regarding the accused in the Hadi murder case?
The Bangladesh police claimed that two suspects in the Hadi murder case had fled to India. A day before this claim, a top official of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police claimed that two main suspects in the Hadi murder case had entered Meghalaya via the Haluaghat border “with the help of local accomplices.” Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) S N Mohammad Nazrul Islam told a press conference at the DMP Media Center, “The suspects, Faisal Karim Masud and Alamgir Sheikh, entered the Indian state of Meghalaya with the help of local accomplices.”
The suspects crossed into India through the Haluaghat border. After crossing the border, they were initially received by a man named Purti. Later, a taxi driver named Sami transported them to Tura town in Meghalaya.”
