BJP spoiled SP’s ‘game’; understand political mathematics  (BJP )

New Delhi: Rajya Sabha elections are to be held on 56 seats in 15 states, but everyone’s eyes are fixed on 2 states. These states are Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka, where BJP has challenged its opponents by fielding its extra candidate. The battle for Rajya Sabha in Uttar Pradesh has become the most interesting. For the 10 Rajya Sabha seats in the state, BJP had fielded 7 candidates and Samajwadi Party had fielded 3 candidates. Everyone’s election was decided without opposition. But, on the last day of nomination i.e. 15th February, BJP  (BJP ) created a problem by fielding its eighth candidate in the form of Sanjay Seth. Now 11 candidates are in the fray for 10 seats. The time for elections has come on 27th February.
To win a Rajya Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh, 37 votes are required. If 9 MLAs of RLD are also included, then BJP has the support of 286 MLAs. That means the party needs 10 additional votes to make its candidates victorious. Similarly, Samajwadi Party needs 111 votes to make its three candidates victorious. Whereas it has the support of only 110 MLAs including Congress.
Rajya Sabha Elections:
Samajwadi Party needs one more vote
This means, Samajwadi Party needs one more vote. In such a situation, both the groups are eyeing those 7 MLAs who are not currently associated with any group. These include Raja Bhaiya and two MLAs from his party and one from BSP. Raja Bhaiya has been continuously talking about supporting Yogi Adityanath, while BSP is against Samajwadi Party.

In such a situation, if Samajwadi Party is not able to gather an additional vote for itself, then second preference votes will be required for the election. In terms of statistics, BJP will comfortably win in the second preference votes.

Sanjay Seth, BJP candidate from UP, said, “The guarantee of PM Modi is going on in the country. The work that is being done in the country. The way India is getting fame in foreign countries. Also, the work that is being done in UP under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath. “Work is being done, there is confidence in it. We have full numbers and we are confident of victory.”
Sanjay Seth was earlier in SP
BJP is believing that it will also win over Sanjay Seth in the voting. Sanjay Seth was earlier in SP. SP had sent him to Rajya Sabha, but then he joined BJP. He resigned from Rajya Sabha. When by-elections were held on that seat
Pallavi Patel showed her attitude
SP’s problem has increased further because party MLA Pallavi Patel has announced not to vote in favor of the party, accusing PDA of neglecting it in the selection of candidates. Pallavi Patel is the sister of Union Minister Anupriya Patel.

Interesting issue of Rajya Sabha elections in Karnataka also
The case of Rajya Sabha elections in Karnataka is no less interesting. 5 candidates have filed forms for 4 seats which are going to be vacant in the state. Due to this the election is being considered fixed. Among them, there are 3 candidates from Congress and one candidate each from BJP-JDS. In this election, a candidate needs a minimum of 45 votes to win. Congress has 135 MLAs in the state assembly, which is enough to win 3 seats. Whereas BJP and JDS have a total of 85 MLAs. Apart from this, 3 out of 4 other MLAs are likely to vote in favor of Congress candidates.
Strong efforts to increase numbers
In the last few years, BJP has made strong efforts to increase its numerical strength in Rajya Sabha as well as in Lok Sabha. With this, BJP’s number in Rajya Sabha has reached 93. Wherever the party sees potential, it enters the field. There have been at least two occasions in Haryana when BJP supported candidates have won despite not having the numbers. The election of Subhash Chandra and Karthikeya Sharma is an example of this.

Similarly, in Gujarat in the year 2017, the candidature of senior Congress leader late Ahmed Patel faced a tough challenge. However, BJP had to face defeat in the elections.
