New Delhi. Experienced left-handed opener Shikhar Dhawan, who was dropped from the Indian cricket team, has been granted divorce (reason) from wife Ayesha Mukherjee by Delhi’s Patiala House Court (Family Court). The court admitted that the wife caused mental pain to Shikhar Dhawan by forcing him to live separately from his only son for years. Family Court Judge Harish Kumar accepted all the allegations made by Dhawan against his wife in the divorce petition.
The Family Court said that Dhawan’s wife either did not oppose the above allegations or failed to defend herself. Dhawan had said in his divorce petition that his wife had made him a victim of mental cruelty. The court refused to pass any order on the permanent custody of the couple’s son.
Court gave Dhawan the right to talk to his son on video call.
The court granted Dhawan the right to meet his son and interact with him over video calls for a reasonable period in India and Australia. The court ordered Dhawan’s wife Ayesha to bring the child to India for visitation purposes, including an overnight stay with Dhawan and his family members for at least half the period of school holidays during the academic calendar. The court said that the petitioner Shikhar Dhawan is a reputed international cricketer.
