Another blow to India Alliance?(Another )

Lucknow: The opposition,  (Another ) united for the Lok Sabha elections 2024, is disintegrating even before the elections. After Mamata Banerjee, Bhagwant Mann and Nitish Kumar, Akhilesh Yadav also took a big decision. Samajwadi Party has announced the names of candidates for 16 Lok Sabha seats of UP amid seat sharing talks with Congress, the main party of India Alliance. . Dimple Yadav, wife of former CM and SP supremo Akhilesh Yadav, has been given ticket from Mainpuri. Dimple is the current MP from Mainpuri. While Dharmendra Yadav will contest elections from Badaun. The party has given ticket to Shafiqur Rahman Burke from Sambhal. He is also an MP from this seat.

Samajwadi Party has made Ravidas Mehrotra its candidate from the capital Lucknow. SP had announced to give 11 and 7 seats to Congress and RLD. After this, the first list of Lok Sabha candidates has come out from Samajwadi Party. Both RLD and Congress parties have not yet clarified their position regarding the announcement of seats in the alliance.

In the matter of seat distribution for the Lok Sabha elections, Congress has already received a setback from Mamata Banerjee in Bengal and AAP’s Bhagwant Mann in Punjab. At the same time, in Bihar, Nitish Kumar changed sides and joined the BJP-led NDA. The entire opposition is shocked by this.
Congress had refused to give seats to SP in Madhya Pradesh
Differences between Congress and Samajwadi Party regarding seat sharing were seen in Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections itself. In the Madhya Pradesh elections held on 17 November 2023, local Congress leaders refused to honor the agreement with Akhilesh Yadav for 6 seats. Congress state president Kamal Nath had also made objectionable remarks in front of the media. While refusing to give seat to SP, he had said that he “does not know any Akhilesh-Vakilesh”. There was deep resentment about this in the socialist camp. Akhilesh Yadav had then clearly said that there could be difficulties regarding this in future.

After the announcement of 16 candidates today, Akhilesh Yadav said that Samajwadi Party will ‘take the decision on alliance in UP in its own way’. Akhilesh Yadav has offered to give 11 out of 80 Lok Sabha seats in UP to Congress. Let us tell you that in 2019, due to no alliance, Samajwadi Party did not contest elections from Amethi and Rae Bareli as a matter of courtesy.

Mamta also refused seat sharing
At the same time, earlier TMC chief Mamata Banerjee had refused to share 2 out of 42 seats in West Bengal with Congress. Congress was demanding more seats than this. After this Mamata announced that TMC will contest the Lok Sabha elections alone in Bengal. However, Mamta said that she will remain associated with INDIA Alliance. Mamta advised Congress to introspect. Akhilesh Yadav has said similar thing for Congress earlier.

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann refuses to give seats to Congress
Earlier, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann once again announced to contest elections alone in Punjab. His words were- Punjab Hero, AAP 13-0. That means Aam Aadmi Party will win the Lok Sabha elections in Punjab by 13-0. Mann has talked about contesting elections alone in Punjab.

BJP got 62 seats in UP in 2019 elections.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP had won bumper seats in UP. BJP won 62 out of 80 seats. Samajwadi Party got only 5 seats. Apart from this, BSP had won 10 seats. At the same time, Congress had won only one seat (Rae Bareli), while Apna Dal had won two seats.
