Alert issued amidst cold weatherweather) 

Weather: Several states in North India are experiencing severe cold. The weather   ( weather)  in North India, including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab, is now changing. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), due to the influence of a Western Disturbance, rain with thunderstorms and strong winds are likely in several areas over the next three days (February 2 to 4, 2026).

Snowfall in Shimla
Himachal Pradesh received light snowfall and rain on Sunday. A ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds for the next three days in several parts of the state. Shilaroo in Shimla district and Kothi in Kullu district received five cm of snowfall, while Kufri received four cm.

Western Disturbance to show its effect again
The IMD issued a weather alert on the social media platform X, stating, “Due to the effect of two consecutive Western Disturbances, rain and snowfall are likely in the Western Himalayan region. Rain is also possible in the adjoining areas of Northwest and Central India during February 1-3.”

Changing weather in Delhi-NCR
Due to snowfall in the hilly areas, the weather in Delhi-NCR has changed. Light rain is expected in Delhi-NCR, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Greater Noida. The minimum temperature in Delhi-NCR may drop.

Rain expected in several districts of UP
Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is expected in Western and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Strong winds (30-50 km/h) will blow. Fog may also prevail in the morning and evening. People will not get any relief from the cold yet. A drop of two to four degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures is forecast over most parts of Northwest India during the next three days.
