Ayodhya: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav visited Ayodhya again after the consecration of the Ram Lalla idol and maintained his distance from the Ram Temple. During his visit, Yadav attended a Bhagwat Katha at the residence of SP’s Ayodhya Assembly candidate Pawan Pandey in Krishnapur.
Speaking to reporters, Akhilesh Yadav claimed that the BJP has conducted multiple surveys in Ayodhya since the Samajwadi Party announced its candidate for the constituency. He said the party’s feedback suggests that the BJP is trailing in these surveys.
Yadav also claimed that the BJP was struggling to find a new candidate for the Ayodhya Assembly seat.
Akhilesh Yadav Challenges CM Yogi Adityanath
Taking aim at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Akhilesh Yadav challenged him to contest the Ayodhya Assembly seat himself if the state government is confident about its development claims in the temple city.
Yadav said the people of Ayodhya and Uttar Pradesh would give their verdict through the ballot box. He also alleged that the ruling establishment had failed to deliver the kind of development and benefits promised to local residents.
‘SP Government Will Accelerate Ayodhya’s Development’
Akhilesh Yadav said that if the Samajwadi Party forms the government in Uttar Pradesh, it will give fresh momentum to development projects in Ayodhya.
He said development would be carried out without discrimination and that local residents should receive a larger share of the economic benefits generated by Ayodhya’s growing tourism and religious significance.
Yadav also reiterated his promise of providing Rs 40,000 annually to women, referring to the welfare measures implemented during previous SP governments.
He said his party would work to establish Ayodhya’s identity on a global platform and take steps aimed at strengthening the city’s tourism and development potential.
Akhilesh Yadav Speaks About Bhagwat Katha
During the visit, the SP chief also spoke about the spiritual significance of Ayodhya. He said the city is the birthplace of Lord Ram and described the Bhagwat Katha as a source of learning, inner strength and positive values.
Yadav said people have grown up listening to the Ramayana and Mahabharata and emphasized the values of compassion, affection and harmony.
Pawan Pandey Named SP Candidate from Ayodhya
Akhilesh Yadav has already announced Tej Narayan Pandey, popularly known as Pawan Pandey, as the Samajwadi Party’s candidate from the Ayodhya Assembly constituency for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Yadav visited Pawan Pandey’s residence on Thursday to attend the Bhagwat Katha. The announcement of Pandey’s candidature was made around two months earlier.
