Air pollution becoming serious in Delhi(Delhi) 

New Delhi. Amid concerns over deteriorating air quality in Delhi- (Delhi)  NCR, the Delhi government on Saturday issued an advisory appealing to people to avoid morning walks and other physical exercises in view of the health emergency. The advisory also states that pregnant women, serious patients, children and elderly citizens should take precautions and avoid exposure to air pollution. To avoid any kind of health risk, the Delhi Health Department said that people should avoid places with high air pollution like roads jam-packed with vehicles, areas near polluting industries, places where construction or demolition activities are taking place etc. .

The Delhi government’s advisory also states that people should avoid physical exercises like outdoor walking, jogging and running in the morning and late evening, especially during high AQI days. The government advised people not to consume tobacco products, avoid burning mosquito coils and incense sticks in closed premises and stop burning wood, leaves, crop residues and garbage. The Delhi government’s advisory asks people to wash their eyes with clean water, regularly gargle with lukewarm water and eat a healthy and balanced diet including fruits and vegetables.

The Delhi government’s advisory further states that in case of shortness of breath, dizziness, cough, chest discomfort or pain, burning sensation (red or watery) in the eyes, consult a doctor. Use public transport or car pool, use wet mop instead of sweeping inside homes and workplaces. However, due to the rain overnight on Friday, Delhi got some relief from air pollution and the air of the city became clean to some extent. Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 219 at 7 am on Saturday.
