Afghanistan wants to strengthen relations with India(Afghanistan )

India and Afghanistan: The Taliban government of Afghanistan  (Afghanistan ) has said that India is an ‘important’ regional and economic power. The Taliban’s remarks came after talks between Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaki in Dubai on Wednesday. Misri and Muttaki discussed various issues in the first public high-level meeting held between the two countries since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan in August 2021.

Afghanistan expressed gratitude to India

The Afghan Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Muttaki “expressed gratitude to India for humanitarian assistance and said that we want to strengthen political and economic relations with India.” The ministry said, “The Foreign Minister assured the Indian side that it faces no threat from Afghanistan. They also expressed hope that their businessmen, patients and students would get visa facilities from India to promote diplomatic relations. Representatives of the Ministry of Commerce and Transport of Afghanistan also participated in the meeting, the statement said. It said that measures to promote political, economic and people-to-people relations between the two countries were discussed extensively.

India will help
According to the Indian Foreign Ministry, the Indian side said in the meeting that New Delhi would consider joining development projects in Afghanistan and providing additional material assistance to the country in the health sector. The ministry said on Wednesday that in response to the request of the Afghan side, India would first provide additional material assistance to the health sector and the rehabilitation of refugees.

Consensus reached on Chabahar port
The ministry said that there was also agreement on promoting the use of Chabahar port to support trade and commercial activities, including for the purpose of humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan. Afghanistan said that the Indian side told that it is keen to promote trade through Chabahar port. The talks between Misri and Muttaqi took place two days after India “unequivocally” condemned Pakistani air strikes in Afghanistan that killed dozens of people.
