Katihar/Sitamarhi: Tejashwi ( Tejashwi) Yadav, the Mahagathbandhan’s CM candidate in the Bihar Assembly elections, made a bold promise on Tuesday that if his government is formed, the rights of minorities will be fully protected and Muslims will receive their due rights. However, two images emerged from Bihar that are likely to increase Tejashwi’s tension. In two assembly constituencies, Mahagathbandhan candidates were routed by Muslim voters.
Massive protests against Tariq Anwar and Mehboob Alam in Balrampur
The first incident occurred in the Balrampur assembly constituency of Katihar. CPI-ML’s Mehboob Alam is contesting this seat. He had also won in the last election. Today, when Congress MP from Katihar, Tariq Anwar, arrived to campaign with Mehboob Alam, the people of the area started shouting slogans against him. People told the Grand Alliance leaders that they had been voting for them for thirty years, yet no development work had been done in the area. Not even a single road was built, so why vote for them now?

Tariq and Mehboob were unimpressed by voters’ questions.
Mehboob Alam and Tariq Anwar tried to reason with the people. They said that the NDA government has been in power in Bihar for twenty years, so what can they do? People responded that voting for them was pointless when they couldn’t do anything. When Mehboob Alam said that he had built roads in every street, voters asked where those roads were built and where they were. Tariq Anwar and Mehboob Alam were unable to answer the public’s questions. Therefore, they had to flee, and both leaders quietly left.
Abuses hurled at RJD MLA Mukesh Yadav in Bajpatti
A similar scene unfolded in the Bajpatti assembly constituency of Sitamarhi district. RJD’s sitting MLA from Bajpatti, Mukesh Kumar Yadav, had to endure public abuse. He was in his vehicle while campaigning for votes. Before he could get out of the vehicle to meet the people, local Muslims began chanting slogans against him. The MLA’s associates, who were in the vehicle, tried to pacify the angry crowd, but they too faced heavy opposition. Ultimately, MLA Mukesh Kumar Yadav decided it was best to leave.
NDA taunts, PK also makes a strong statement
NDA leaders took a dig at the way the Muslim community is harassing the Grand Alliance leaders. Chirag Paswan said that the Grand Alliance leaders have always cheated Muslims. He said that now the Muslim community has understood this, which is why the Grand Alliance leaders are being harassed. Prashant Kishore is also targeting Muslim voters. In his campaign, Prashant Kishore is appealing to Muslims by appealing to their children and urging them not to fear the BJP and get entangled in the Grand Alliance. He is saying that they should make decisions keeping in mind the future of their children.
Asaduddin Owaisi Sets Up Camp in Bihar
Asaduddin Owaisi has also set up camp in Bihar. Today, Owaisi addressed three rallies. Owaisi’s focus is on areas where his party’s candidates won in the last election. Since five of AIMIM’s five MLAs joined the RJD, Owaisi is now targeting Tejashwi Yadav and the RJD. In every public meeting, Owaisi tells Muslims that the Grand Alliance has declared Mukesh Sahni, who has 2% of the vote, as the Deputy Chief Minister, but Tejashwi has not considered the Muslims, who constitute 17% of the population. Owaisi repeatedly says that the RJD and Congress take Muslim votes and then forget them, so now Muslims must take their own rights.
What is the Muslim vote arithmetic in Bihar?
There are approximately 18% Muslim voters in Bihar. Muslim voters have a decisive influence in approximately 70 seats. Four districts in Seemanchal have a Muslim majority: Kishanganj (68%), Katihar (44%), Araria (43%), and Purnia (38%). These four districts comprise a total of 24 assembly seats. Election analysts indicate that approximately 76% of Muslims voted for the RJD-led alliance in the last assembly elections, while the AIMIM-led Grand Secular Front received 11%. When Nitish Kumar contests with the BJP, he receives 5% to 6% of the Muslim vote.
What fear is haunting Tejashwi Yadav?
Tejashwi’s alliance has fielded 30 Muslim candidates in these elections, 18 of whom are from the RJD and 10 from the Congress. Within the NDA, the JDU has fielded four Muslim candidates, while Chirag Paswan has fielded one. Prashant Kishor is leading the charge, fielding 32 Muslim candidates. Tejashwi’s only fear is that if Owaisi’s party wins the vote, and Prashant Kishor gets the Muslim vote, as he did last time, the Grand Alliance will be doomed. That’s why he has made big promises to Muslims in his manifesto.
