New Delhi. The Center on Monday appealed to all citizens to identify and recommend names of talented people whose outstanding work and achievements truly deserve to be honored with the Padma Awards (Padma Awards) . According to the report of the news agency Bhasha, the Union Home Ministry said in a statement that the online nominations, recommendations for the Padma Awards 2024 have started from May 1, 2023 and the last date for nominations is September 15.
It said that the Padma Awards will be announced on the occasion of Republic Day 2024. Nominations or recommendations for Padma Awards will be received online on the National Awards Portal. The statement said that all citizens are requested to make nominations, recommendations, which also include self-nomination. The Padma Awards, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, are among the highest civilian awards of the country.
Instituted in 1954, these awards are announced every year on the occasion of Republic Day. The award seeks to recognize ‘distinguished work’ and is given for distinguished and exceptional achievements/service in all fields/disciplines such as art, literature and education, sports, medicine, social work, science and engineering, public affairs, civil . Service, trade and industry etc. All persons irrespective of caste, occupation, status or gender are eligible for these awards. Government employees, including those working in public sector undertakings, except doctors and scientists, are not eligible for the Padma Awards.
