Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Wednesday that India-China talks will continue for a peaceful resolution of the eastern Ladakh standoff, while our soldiers stand firmly in this area. The Defense Minister told a conference of top Army commanders that it is a national responsibility to ensure the availability of good quality weapons, equipment and clothing to soldiers facing inclement weather and ‘enemies’ to protect territorial integrity.

The four-day conference of the top commanders of the Indian Army began on Monday. He lauded the Indian Army for working towards this goal and said that 74% of its contracts were awarded by the Army to Indian vendors in 2020-2021 keeping in mind the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. “There is no budget constraint for capacity development and meeting other requirements of the Army,” he said.
Singh said that the decision to give permanent commission to women officers in the army is another important decision. Singh in his address also lauded the efforts of Border Roads Organization (BRO) saying that it is working in difficult circumstances to connect remote areas so that citizens living in those places remain connected. He lauded the armed forces for suitably incorporating the latest technologies.
