Tricolor at Lal Chowk in Kashmir,

Srinagar. Today, 74th Republic Day was celebrated with great pomp in all the states of India. During this, the tricolor was hoisted at various places. Republic Day celebration was organized on the duty path of Delhi, whose pictures are becoming very viral and its beauty is also being seen. Amidst all this, the most discussed picture is that of the tricolor hoisting on the clock tower located at Lal Chowk in Srinagar. For the second time after 1990, today the tricolor has been hoisted at the clock tower of Lal Chowk. Earlier in the year 2022, the tricolor was hoisted at Lal Chowk.

Significantly, the clock tower located at Lal Chowk has always been of great importance regarding the politics of Kashmir. This is the second year that the Indian National Flag was hoisted at the iconic location. For the first time in history, the Indian tricolor was hoisted atop the clock tower in Srinagar’s famous Lal Chowk area to mark the country’s 73rd Republic Day in 2022.

Compared to last year, this time Lal Chowk was a bit deserted. But shops were open in the area. Local people also participated in the program organized at Lal Chowk. There was a peace in the atmosphere of Lal Chowk.

Sharing the picture of Lal Chowk, a local youth wrote, “For the first time since 1990, for the first time since the Kashmiri Hindu genocide, shops are open at Lal Chowk, no Hurriyat, no curfew, no band call. Here’s why That as a Kashmiri Hindu, I have faith in my PM.”

However, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti claimed that shopkeepers were ordered to keep shops open and termed it as a forceful move to show normalcy. He tweeted, “While the rest of India will celebrate Republic Day tomorrow as a holiday, shopkeepers in Kashmir have reportedly been ordered to keep their shops open or face the consequences.
