When the sea level starts rising, the entry of devotees in the temple is stopped for some time. In the Rudra Samhita of Skanda Purana and Shiva Purana, it has been said about the Stambeshwar shrine that the demon Tadkasur had taken a boon from Shiva after doing severe penance that only the sons of Shiva could kill him.
