Great performance of Indian weightlifters on the second day of Commonwealth Games

New Delhi. Indian weightlifters gave a golden performance in the Commonwealth Games, winning all the three medals of Gold, Silver and Bronze. India started winning the medal on Saturday with silver. Sanket Sargar gave India its first medal. After this, Gururaj Pujari doubled the number of medals by winning the bronze. After this only the gold medal was left, for which Mirabai Chanu ended the wait. Mirabai, who won a medal in the Olympics for one year, won gold in the Commonwealth Games 2022, which was held in Birmingham. Weightlifter Bindiyarani Devi also won the fourth medal of the day.

India could not win any medal on the first day of the Commonwealth Games being held in Birmingham. Indian players made up for it on the second day of the tournament. Indian weightlifters won 4 medals on the second day. Due to this, India has reached 8th place in the medal tally of Commonwealth Games. Australia is at number one in the tally by winning 32 medals including 13 gold. New Zealand has won 13 medals including 7 gold. Host England is running at number three. He has won 21 medals including 5 gold till Saturday night. India has won 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze medals.

Star weightfilter Mirabai Chanu won the gold medal in the 49kg category on Saturday. He lifted 88 kg in snatch and 109 kg in clean and jerk. In this way, he won the gold medal by lifting a total of 197 kg. Mirabai has won gold in Commonwealth Games for the second time in a row. He also won gold in the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Mirabai has also won the gold medal of Tokyo Olympics a year ago.

So far 19 countries have registered their names in the medal tally of Commonwealth Games. Of these, 12 countries have won at least one gold medal. Canada is in fourth place after Australia, New Zealand and England. He has won 11 medals including 3 gold. Scotland, Malaysia and South Africa are ranked fifth, sixth and seventh respectively, winning 2 gold each.
