GUWAHATI: Two more people died of Japanese encephalitis in Assam on Monday, taking the death toll this month to 41. The National Health Mission issued a statement and gave information about this.
The state recorded 14 new cases of Japanese encephalitis on Monday, taking the number of people infected with the disease to 266 this month, the statement said. It said that both the deaths took place in Hailakandi district.
According to the statement, three cases each were reported in Biswanath and Nagaon districts, two each in Sonitpur and Dhemaji districts, one each from Bongaigaon, Darang, Golaghat and Hojai districts.
It said that the state had not reported any new cases on Sunday and no death was reported from it. According to the statement, all districts have constituted District Rapid Response Teams on Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and JE.
In view of the increasing infection of Japanese Encephalitis, the State Health Department has directed the powers of all the district administrations and health departments to take all necessary steps for the prevention of infection.
