Washington. Firing took place during the Freedom Day Parade in Chicago on America’s Independence Day. The incident took place in Highland Park in the state of Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. According to the police, 6 people have died in the attack. 57 people have been injured. The injured have been admitted to hospital.

According to the Washington Post report, the parade started at 10 am, but was stopped after 10 minutes of firing. Hundreds of people had gathered to see it. The police have asked the local people to stay away from the spot.

According to US Census data, about 30,000 people live in the Highland Park where the shooting took place. Their income is three times more than that of the rest of the country.

According to the police, the attacker opened fire indiscriminately from the roof of a store. The search is on for the attacker by cordoning off the area. US President Joe Biden has also expressed deep sorrow over this incident. He said- I am shocked by this ruthless violence.

Christopher Coveli, spokesman for the Lake County Major Crime Task Force, said at a news conference that the attacker fired a rifle at the parade participants from a rooftop. The rifle has been recovered. However, it is not known from which building’s roof he fired.

Koveli said police believe only one shooter carried out the attack. Witnesses said they saw blood-soaked bodies covered with blankets and hundreds of people running for their lives.
