rebellion in Shiv Sena

Mumbai. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday night vacated his official residence in south Mumbai and moved to his private residence in Bandra, hours after Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde offered to step down in the backdrop of the rebellion. Thackeray has moved to the Thackeray family’s private residence ‘Matoshree’ after vacating the Chief Minister’s official residence ‘Varsha’. It is worth noting that Thackeray has taken this step amidst Shinde’s revolt two days ago and there is no easing of the attitude of the rebel MLAs.

Shiv Sena leaders Neelam Gorhe and Chandrakant Khaire were present there while leaving ‘Varsha’, the official residence of the Chief Minister. When Thackeray left for ‘Matoshree’ from ‘Varsha’ with wife Rashmi Thackeray, son and cabinet minister Aaditya Thackeray and Tejas Thackeray at around 9:50 pm, party workers raised slogans in his favor and showered flowers on him. The Thackeray family reached outside ‘Matoshree’ around 10:30 pm. However, it took about 40 minutes for the Chief Minister to reach his residence from there.

Hundreds of Shiv Sainiks stood from ‘Varsha’ in Malabar Hills to ‘Matoshree’ in Bandra. They had placards, party flags in their hands and they were shouting slogans of Uddhav Thackeray Zindabad with moist eyes. On the way, Thackeray got out of the car in Worli, the assembly constituency of his son and state tourism minister Aaditya Thackeray, and then also came out near Matoshree and greeted Shiv Sena workers.

Thackeray also met MLAs and MPs before leaving for ‘Varsha’.
